Requirements & FAQs

Requirements

Valid driver’s license

You must be 18+ and possess a valid driver’s license.

Helmet and clothing

Your helmet must be rated for automotive use - Snell SA and/or FIA rating. Snell-approved helmets bear a Snell rating sticker, typically found by lifting up the helmet liner. Motorcycle helmets (M rated/DOT rated) are not allowed. You will also need to wear closed-toe shoes and long pants.

Beginner drivers

Beginner drivers must take instruction their first time out. This is for the safety of the beginner driver as well as for the safety of others the driver will share the track with. Our instructors will evaluate your skill throughout the day and may permit solo driving as they see fit.

Safe, inspected vehicle

"Inspected in advance" means downloading the Tech Inspection Form prior to the event and verifying the condition of each item on the form. Vehicles must be inspected separately for each event. You may perform the inspection yourself if you have the required knowledge and tools. If you do not have the technical knowledge or tools required, or are not willing to take the time to properly inspect each item, please have the vehicle inspected by a licensed Automotive Service Technician with knowledge of the rigors expected in road course driving.

We will verify each item is in proper condition upon check-in and Team41 will sign off on your tech inspection form.

General FAQs

What is an ‘open’ track day?

An open track day is an opportunity to take your personal car onto a closed-circuit road course to experience the joy of high-performance track driving. These are high performance driver education events (HPDE) geared toward safely learning the capabilities of your vehicle and becoming an all-around more capable driver. Ask us how HPDE events even improve your driving in daily life.

What if it’s a rainy day?

We will be operating rain or shine. Driving in the rain is an important part of our daily commutes during the week! Attending HPDE events in the rain is a way to learn to be a safer and more capable rain driver. There will not be any refunds available due to rainy weather.

What is our social media hashtag?

Tag us in your photos and posts @team41trackdays or #Team41Trackdays on Facebook and Instagram so we can share! We love doing social shout outs and highlighting our supporters.

Are photographers and spectators allowed?

Yes! We absolutely encourage media and spectators to attend. It is free to attend and a great way to support your friends and family. No registration is needed for spectators.

I want to bring a group, is there a discount?

A discounted rate can be offered if you are registering as a group (6 or more people). This rate may differ depending on the event and how many people you will have in total. Please contact us to discuss further.

I changed my mind, can I get a refund?

Refunds will be offered if the request is submitted one month prior to the event. No refunds will be given within one month of the event. You may sell your spot to another driver but it is your responsibility to inform Team 41 of the change.

Driver FAQs

Are motorcycles allowed?

Track days are set up to be cars only at this time. We may expand to have motorcycle track days but we cannot run both cars and bikes at the same event.

Can I share a vehicle with another driver?

Yes, you can share one vehicle but will need two registrations. Please make sure you are selecting the appropriate run group based on the individual driver’s experience. You will need only one tech inspection form but both drivers must be listed.

Can I rent a helmet or other gear?

We do not have any equipment available for rental. You will need to bring your own approved helmet. It must be rated for automotive use (Snell SA and/or FIA rating), motorcycle helmets (M rated/DOT rated) are not allowed.

What do I wear?

You will need to wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. We also recommend cotton clothing over synthetic in case of emergencies.

Do I need to have track experience?

Not at all. Our track days are geared towards beginners by partnering with excellent instructors to get you started. Driving with an instructor will ensure you have a safe, enjoyable, and learning experience.

Do I need a track car?

No. As long as you have a mechanically sound car that passes tech inspection, you are good to go. Please review the tech inspection form to prepare your car ahead of time.

Do I need a roll bar in my convertible?

Yes, convertibles, cabriolets, and open-top cars must have structural rollover protection. Some vehicles come with factory roll protection and some may not - please be sure to check your vehicle is appropriately equipped for the track. Your helmet should be entirely within the space between the roll hoop and the highest point of your front structural component. Generally known as the ‘broom stick test,‘ you should have a broomstick’s width of distance from your helmet to the roof of your car.

Do I need to attend the drivers’ meeting?

Yes, it is mandatory to attend the drivers’ meeting. This meeting will cover details such as passing zones, flags, and other rules. Because each track may differ, it is important to attend to get the most accurate information.

What are the run groups?

There are three run groups based on your driving experience:
Beginner instructed - This is the group for you if this is your first or first few track events. You should register for this if you have not had an instructor with you before in an HPDE environment.

Beginner solo - This is the group for you if you have had a few experiences (2-4 events) and have had an instructor in the past.

*Both beginner groups will be on the track at the same time.

Intermediate - This is the group for you if you have completed several experiences. You are comfortable with the driving line around the track and can drive it with relative consistency while maintaining awareness of corner stations, flags, and other cars on track.

Advanced - This is the group for you if you have completed a lot of track events and experiences. You have excellent awareness, can always maintain your line, and are ready to pass and be passed anywhere on the track. Your skills should include heel/toe downshifting, threshold braking, apex speed, and maintaining high awareness of others on the track.
